Blood Sea Bomber Jacket

A black bomber engraved with thin blood-red tide lines. They are almost invisible at the chest and grow brighter and heavier toward the hem and cuffs, like a tide rising up the wearer. Out of that sea rise bladewing blood bats. One bat sits on the left chest like a sect badge, because in Fang Yuan's previous life the bladewing blood bat was the symbol of his sect (ch 183). Columns of bats climb each sleeve from cuff to shoulder.

The back carries a whirlpool at the heart of a sea of blood, with a shoal of bats spiraling out of it and rising "just like a travelling shoal of fish" (ch 183). Every bat has two long pointed ears, two pairs of wings with the smaller pair below, no claws and blade-sharp wing edges (ch 183). The collar, cuffs and waistband are blood-red rib with black tipping. A label printed inside the waistband carries Fang Yuan's line "A Gu Master's uniform isn't so clean and neat." (ch 101).
